I remember this interview when it aired live. I watched it with my parents. No one disliked Sean Connery more than my late mother. She always said that there was something about Connery that rubbed her the wrong way. My parents were huge James Bond fans but my mother only liked the Roger Moore movies. Her father never loved her, thought of her as an utter disappointment, never thought to conceal it in any way; her mother wasn’t much better on that front. Her brother was the golden child; she was just the child her mother had to spite her father. He was the heir to his empire and was trained as such, she was an afterthought. The way her whole family died within a two-year period, as dysfunctional as it was, would be enough to do anyone in, let alone someone who couldn’t stand on her own two feet, unloved and deeply insecure. On top of that, the responsibility of her father’s empire fell on her shoulders, which she wasn’t prepared for. She settled for a semblance of love that she paid for… truly tragic
